Extrutek
for Boat Lift Sales |
Marina World Sept/Oct 2003 In a move to update and improve the manufacturing process of its GalvaLift boat lifts, US company ShoreMaster is now utilizing Extrutek fusion technology. A proprietary new process for the fusion of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Extrutek is claimed to eliminate waste and unnecessary labor costs while improving the quality of both materials and construction. According to ShoreMaster, through changes such as updating a pipe-cutting jig, modifying welding techniques and using thicker, stronger materials, fusion of the tank end components in the boat lift has improved by 100% and material waste has been reduced by half. "The complete fusion of the body and end cap of each tank creates a single piece of contiguous HDPE, which allows us to make stronger and more durable tanks," says ShoreMaster president, Erik Ahlgren. The method involves slowing the manufacturing process and taking steps to ensure that all of the materials being fused are maintained at the same required temperature throughout the welding. In addition, by altering the inner lining of the tanks to accommodate the end cap in a firmly locked surface, Extrutek increases the amount of pressure the tanks can withstand, bother internally and externally. "We're very excited about Extrutek technology," said ShoreMaster sales manager Ralph Peck. "It may seem a little bit geeky - it's just a simple part of the tank building process - but these small touches mean that Galvalift customers can expect the highest quality product available in the floating boat lift marketplace." |
